Nagammal lives in an IGL-adopted village called Sirumalai. She was a daily wage laborer working in farm fields for a meager income that hardly afforded her the ability to feed herself and her family. Nagammal hoped for something more for her loved ones and joined a Women’s Transformation Group (WTG) in search of a solution. After her training on financial literacy and starting and managing a business, Nagammal was trained to raise a fruitful garden and given a loan. For $55 Nagammal began a garden that changed the entire landscape of not only her life, but the lives of her family and people living in her village. She supports her family on nearly 2,000 rupees a month!
